A king among men.

I'd been saving this piece of stone for a special occasion because of its intense patterning.

Alas, the occasion came! A friend, who I play chess with online, helped me out massively this year.
He's the kind of guy who only wants to put good out into the world and he does; helping who ever and how ever he can. Even a relative stranger on the internet (like me).

As a thank you, I made him this King chess piece and carved his infamous opening move that (more often than not) ruins my tactical plans 🤣 [pawn to C4].

I only started playing a year ago and he has helped me both on and off the board massively.

I feel very lucky to be surrounded by such kind friends. The past few years have had a lot of great people enter my life and I don't see the majority of them as often as I'd like!

Hare Nouveau

I don't think I've ever done a reel for my hare, so here it is!

I absolutely love @daoirifarrellmusic 's version of The Creggan White Hare too. So if you like belting folk music, definitely look him up!

He actually inspired me to get a bouzouki and write some of my own songs. (No where near as well though 🤣)
I was supposed to go to one of his gigs for my birthday but the person organizing messed up both, the dates and location 😂

Year 2 Update. Dear Diary...😂

TL;DR - Everyone is awesome and I built a shed.

What a 12 months this has been! It's the most continuously stressful year of my life so far (and hopefully ever! Haha!) and yet, the most rewarding.

I've spent it meeting the most amazing people, throwing myself far outside of my comfort zone and being supported by friends both near and far, new and old.

It's a year for gratitude, for sure.
I owe massive thanks to everyone on the TV show who's shared their knowledge/experience and support. Everyone who's shown such enthusiasm to order my pieces/sign up to my newsletter/follow my social media and have the patience and kindness to be there while I work through this mammoth task.
And naturally, all the friends and family who never miss a beat when I'm in a sticky situation. I literally cannot thank you enough.

It's been a real rollercoaster for me. With the success of my online shop after my episode aired, I had to sort out the scheduling of all that work and let down ALL of my lovely commissioners.
I'd been emailing for days to get through them and when I realised it was going to be impossible to do any, I was gutted.

It felt like, before I'd even begun, I'd let everyone down. Urgh! My heart!

Thankfully, I had so many replies letting me know that, though they are sad not to have work made, they are happy that I'm busy and this helped a lot.

Also, the patience and kindness of my existing customers who are waiting for me to work through their orders has been overwhelming.
So many messages wishing me well and how happy they are for me. They do not know how much that helps.

It's a very steep learning curve and everyone has been so brilliant while I clamber it.

Also also, I have a little workshop now! Yay!
No 40° greenhouse to work through summer in 😂

When I first started experimenting, I definitely had the thought "what the hell am I doing?!"

Now I take that as a sign that it's worth seeing through.

At least now, when an experiment is done, I know what I'd like to change.
